I was watching one of those all news stations. I usually listen to the radio or read the news from google. I was surprised at how much more disturbing the car bombings in Iraq are when you see the smoke billowing into the sky. It's easy to dismiss car bombings and suicide attacks that occur halfway around the world but seeing the people standing around in the street in front of a burned out building makes you stop and remember how fucked up and sad this world is.

And watching the all news channel makes you stop and remember how fucked up the news media is. When the all news channel got tired of saying "there's a lot of smoke over there but we don't know why. Let's go to our correspondant to tell us that there appears to be a lot of smoke over there but we don't know why", they aired a story about some woman who went missing. This has been all over the news lately and it really fucking bothers me.

A missing person or murder is LOCAL FUCKING NEWS, not national news. The national news is supposed to tell me what is happening in the nation, NOT what is happening in Utah. I don't want to hear what is happening in Utah unless Utah suddenly launches into space or collapses under the weight of it's own boring shitty-ness. Sure, it's interesting that her husband lived some kind of fucked up lie, but that doesn't mean it has any bearing on the country. We have the WE and Oxygen networks to make television movies about these things, we don't need it ejaculated all over CNN as well.

They should start a "missing white women" network so the entire nation can keep updated on the stories of any missing white women at all times.
