I have the upmost respect for people who lose a lot of weight and I don't want this to be conveyed as ridicule. I personally don't give a shit if people are overweight. I hear a lot of people make snide comments about overweight people (specifically women) who wear trashy clothing. Personally, I don't want to see ANYONE in trashy clothing, fat or not. And while I'm on the topic, NOBODY looks good dancing (unless you can breakdance, but lets not fool ourselves, we can't breakdance), so if you're a person of greater momentum ("person of greater momentum" is the new nice sounding term I made up for overweight people) and you want to go to the dance club, YOU GO GIRL! You look about as stupid as everyone else in that place, so just go wild.

With that out of the way, what is the obession people who lose a lot of weight have with their old pants? Every time I see a story or commercial in which someone loses a lot of weight those old pants always come out right away. What is the purpose of sticking those in the closet? Do people come over and say "Wow, you've lost a lot of weight. I wish I could see some of your old pants as a visual reference"? Does Subway or TLC's "A Diet Story" call up people who have lost lots of weight and say "We'd love to have you on the show but we really need you to have a pair of your old pants, so if you have the pants that's great; if not, don't call us".

I personally think it's selfish. Buying pants in unusual sizes is a pain in the ass. I have a hard time and I'm just a little taller than average. There should be some kind of organization that accepts donations of formerly overweight people's large pants and redistributes them to those that haven't lost the weight yet.
