It also totally boggles my mind that the results of polls change in regards to the latest news bits. I have a hard time believing that Joe and Flo Schmoe suddenly change sides because of the swift boat veterans or CBS' shoddy reporting of Bush's military records. I can't fathom that the middle ground is that shakey. I don't personally give a fuck if John Kerry ran around Viet Nam naked, screaming incoherently, covered in pig shit and wearing a necklace of human ears, I'm still fucking voting for him. I imagine most Bush supporters feel the same way. I'm pretty disgusted with the whole election and I have been since day one. Every fucking day I feel more apathetic about what the media says. I hate how we seem to create this image of each candidate and stigmatize them for eternity based on it. For instance, Kerry is aloof and unlikeable and Bush is a babbling moron. I'm not debating those points, but it's aggrivating to hear them rehashed over and over again. It's too fucking easy, and it drives me crazy that it matters to people which candidate they'd more like to have over to watch Monday Night Football. And if I hear the term "flip flop" one more time I'm going to knife someone in the God Damn face. I don't care who it's in reference to. I should compile a list of defunct media buzzwords that are never to be uttered again. These would include "Talking Points", "Flip Flop", "Shock and Awe", "Log Jam", and "Hanging Chad" to name a few. I guess I'm more disenfranchized by the media than the politics. I believe that people suck at voting, but I don't think it's entirely their fault. The function of the media SHOULD be to inform us accurately and objectively about as much important shit as they can. The only part of that sentence they pull off is the "shit".
