It worked out well because around 11:30 someone microwaved some fish at work. One of the many reasons I should be unfit to live in this society is my severe fish allergy, so by 11:45 I was pulling into my parking lot. I cooked some lunch, played some banjo, and wrote some work related e-mail. The guy came and rerouted some cable through the intricate network of splitters in the basement. I started to clean around 4. There's something rewarding about cleaning the fuck out of one's apartment but circumstances have to be just right or I can't do it. The planets were aligned properly yesterday so I cleaned everything. The floors, my appliances, everyfuckingthing. I decided to walk to the liquor store because I love being able to walk to the liquor store. Discount Liquor is the best liquor store I know of. It smells like old cardboard and pee, as I believe all good liquor stores should. On the corner of Main St. and Barstow there is an apartment complex thing for the elderly. As I walked by the big windows in front I heard a loud THUNK THUNK THUNK sound. I looked over and an old man was tapping the window with the end of a cane. There were about six old people sitting in chairs along the window. As I looked up and walked by, they all waved. I waved back and smiled. I crossed the street to the liquor store and looked back. They were just sitting there, watching people walk by and waving at them. It was a beautiful night. Sometimes I love this world. Not often, but sometimes.
