Yesterday some guy shot his wife or girlfriend in the face at the CNN Center. I know this from the news reports, but I also know because the office building that houses our Atlanta office overlooks the CNN Center. I saw the scads of police and firetrucks pull up. My coworker used to be a policeman and I could tell seeing the cars screech up and block of the streets made him a little misty.

It was a "domestic dispute", they said. I don't like that term. To me, "dispute" doesn't carry implications of violence. A dispute is something you have over boarders. When I say that Mr. Belvedere was writing letters at the end of every episode and my wife says he was writing in his diary, THAT'S what I would call a domestic dispute.

They shot the guy, I guess. What a fucked up world.
